Directions to Mountain Vista Resort
Traveling to the Big Bear area can mean driving through snow, sometimes a lot of snow. We at Mountain Vista Resort want you to stay safe by knowing the rules regarding road conditions. It is always recommended to carry chains in the winter in Big Bear in case of inclement weather.

If R-2 conditions are present then all 2 wheel drive vehciles must have chains on driving wheels. 4 wheel drive vehicles must carry chains.
If R-3 conditions are present then all vehicles must have chains on the drive wheels
When R-2 or R-3 conditions are in effect there are check points along the mountain roads. They will have you turn around if you have no chains. Sometimes there are vendors at check points who will sell and help you with chains. It's best to be prepared and bring chains with you before beginning to travel up the mountains if there's a possiblity of inclement weather.
If you are already in Big Bear and need to get chains there are many places that sell them. In particular we recommend E & M / Susie's Towing. Call (909) 866-6677 anytime of the day for service. They will get you chains if you need them and they will even come to our property to help you put them on your car.
From the Los Angeles area:
- Take Interstate 10 East to 210 to 330 North.
- 330 N ends on 18 East in Running Springs.
- Follow 18 East and turn right across Big Bear Dam.
- Follow 18 E (Big Bear Blvd) until you get to Big Bear Village where you make a left onto Paine Rd which will again turn into Big Bear Blvd.
- Stay on Big Bear Blvd for 5 stop lights to Moonridge Rd.
- Make a right onto Moonridge Road.
- Stay in right lane for 1 mile to a Y.
- Make a right at Y onto Club View Dr.
- Stay on Clubview Dr for 0.8 mi to Mountain Vista Resort on right.
From the Orange Co. and Beach Cities:
- Take 91 East to 215 North to 10 East.
- Take Interstate 10 East to 210 to 330 North.
- 330 N ends on 18 East in Running Springs.
- Follow 18 East and turn right across Big Bear Dam.
- Follow 18 E (Big Bear Blvd) until you get to Big Bear Village where you make a left onto Paine Rd which will again turn into Big Bear Blvd.
- Stay on Big Bear Blvd for 5 stop lights to Moonridge Rd.
- Make a right onto Moonridge Road.
- Stay in right lane for 1 mile to a Y.
- Make a right at Y onto Club View Dr.
- Stay on Clubview Dr for 0.8 mi to Mountain Vista Resort on right.
From the San Diego area:
- Take 15 North to 215 North to 10 East.
- Take Interstate 10 East to 210 to 330 North.
- 330 N ends on 18 East in Running Springs.
- Follow 18 East and turn right across Big Bear Dam.
- Follow 18 E (Big Bear Blvd) until you get to Big Bear Village where you make a left onto Paine Rd which will again turn into Big Bear Blvd.
- Stay on Big Bear Blvd for 5 stop lights to Moonridge Rd.
- Make a right onto Moonridge Road.
- Stay in right lane for 1 mile to a Y.
- Make a right at Y onto Club View Dr.
- Stay on Clubview Dr for 0.8 mi to Mountain Vista Resort on right.
From the San Fernando Valley:
- Take 101 East to 134 East to 210 East to 330 North.
- 330 N ends on 18 East in Running Springs.
- Follow 18 East and turn right across Big Bear Dam.
- Follow 18 E (Big Bear Blvd) until you get to Big Bear Village where you make a left onto Paine Rd which will again turn into Big Bear Blvd.
- Stay on Big Bear Blvd for 5 stop lights to Moonridge Rd.
- Make a right onto Moonridge Road.
- Stay in right lane for 1 mile to a Y.
- Make a right at Y onto Club View Dr.
- Stay on Clubview Dr for 0.8 mi to Mountain Vista Resort on right.
From the Las Vegas area:
- Take Interstate 15 South to Hwy 247 south (in Barstow).
- This will bring you to Lucerne Valley.
- Go past 2 stop signs and turn left onto Hwy 18 which leads up the mountain to Big Bear Valley.
- Follow 18 approximately 6 miles to Stanfield Cutoff. Turn left.
- Turn right at stop light onto Big Bear Blvd.
- Follow Big Bear to Moonridge Rd. Turn left. Stay in right lane for 1 mile to a Y.
- Make a right at Y onto Club View Dr.
- Stay on Clubview Dr for 0.8 mi to Mountain Vista Resort on right.
